Get to know our staff (we think they are wonderful!).
DJ came to Chilson Hills in November of 2010 after completing a pastoral resident program at Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas, TX, part of a Lily Foundation program. A former Minister to Single Adults and Director of Communications at Valley Ranch Baptist Church in Coppell, Texas, D.J. earned a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania. He has served as a youth pastor in California and Illinois and has served as a camp counselor and director of programs at Camp Swatara in Pennsylvania. DJ is married to Heather, who is a sewing instructor and a seamstress. They have two sons, Danny and Lincoln. Director of Music and Worship
Angela Miller came to Chilson Hills in 2003 but began serving as the Director of Music and Worship in August 2014. Angie is a veteran of live theater, performing on a variety of stages in the Detroit Metro area. She is a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association and is an Associate Artist at Purple Rose Theatre Company. In addition to her theater commitments she enjoys reading, singing and an occasional sky dive! Angie is married to a real life hero, Deputy Fire Chief Nick Miller and has “two adorable and wicked-smart kids,” Lillian and Vincent. In addition to leading us in worship on Sunday mornings, Angie also oversees the leadership of our bell choir, children’s choir and adult choir. In the pastm, she has also helped lead our drama ministry, CHAT (Chilson Hills Agape Theatre).
Youth Ministry Team Leader
Greg began serving as our Youth Ministry Team Leader in January 2015. He came to Chilson in 1995 with his wife Kristi. Greg and Kristi live in Pinckney with their two boys, Nathaniel and Kenneth. Greg also serves on our Finance Team, in the church choir and on our Executive Ministry Team.
Children’s Ministry Team Leader
Melissa and her husband, Brian, have three sons who also happened to be triplets! Melissa also is a Special Education teacher in the Brighton School District. Melissa coordinates all of our Sunday morning children’s programming as well as our special events for kids throughout the year.
Ruth joined our staff at the beginning of 2017. Ruth is Pastor D.J’s primary administrative support and also coordinates the church calendar, publishes our weekly Sunday publication, and manages the church facilities. Ruth is a mother of 4, and a grandmother of 5. She enjoys is an ardent supporter of Michigan State (Go Sparty!), she loves to cook, bake, hang out around her coi pond, and spend time with her husband, Dave.
Kendra joined our staff in the Spring of 2016. Kendra has the daunting task of making our 29,000 square feet shine. In addition to maintaining our facilities, Kendra owns a cleaning business and a dog-grooming service. Kendra is an avid Bass fisher, but her true passion is her son, Brett.
