Memorial Garden & Columbarium
A Columbarium provides a place on Church property for the permanent preservation of cremation ashes for members and their immediate family.
It is an answer, at least in part, to the age-old concern of the Christian community to “participate in the proper disposition and identification of the earthly remains of those who have shared the fellowship.”
The Memorial Garden Columbarium is possibly Chilson’s most unique feature. It is home to two columbarium crosses (no niches are currently available in the crosses), outdoor stadium seating for 100, and a memorial wall which houses more than 70 additional niches. The Memorial Garden has hosted worship services, funerals, weddings and outdoor concerts.
Memorial Garden Standards & Practices
Arrangements: Upon request, the Church will preserve pre-planned funeral arrangements.
Memorials: Memorial services can be arranged in the Church at a time mutually convenient to the family and the Church. However, additional suitable memorials, including flowers and gifts to the Church, are welcome and can be arranged through the Church office.
Cremation: Michigan law restricts the transportation of bodies to licensed morticians. Therefore, the service of a mortician is necessary. Embalming is not required if cremation is done within 48 hours. A casket is not necessary, although a container or box is required by the crematory.
Engraving & Interment: When possible, arrangements should be made well in advance of need. One interment per niche, in a container using the dimensions provided. The container will show the name, year of birth and year of death. The Church Administrator confirms the time of interment. The granite plaque sealing the niche will be uniform with other plaques. Additional rules and regulations apply. Contact the church office for details.
Dimensions & Pricing: All Columbarium financial considerations must be paid prior to use, payable to Chilson Hills Church.
Memorial Pillar Monument: Engraving fee with application for engraving. $250
Columbarium/Wall Niche. Reservation fee provided with application. $375
Use Fee. Includes opening, closing, and granite marker engraving. $250
The family negotiates crematory and mortician fees with the mortician.

Worship Center
Our worship center is a multi purpose room that can host any small or large events.
We have hosted concerts, fundraisers, banquets, weddings, funerals, blood drives, game nights, vaccination clinics and parties for as many as 350 people. The worship center is equipped with theater lighting, a customizable stage, multimedia screens, a complete sound system, a full kitchen and plenty of tables and chairs for your event.
The carpet in our worship center is embossed with a 3/4 basketball court (basketball goals are not currently available) and volleyball court (volleyball net is available upon request). Contact the church office for the full inventory of available sports equipment. We have hosted basketball leagues, soccer practices, and volleyball activities.
Sound System & Fees
For the usage of our sound system a Chilson Hills technician must be present. Fee discussed at booking.

Lower Level
(Kontz Fellowship Hall)
Our Lower Level is ideal for large meetings, or medium-sized events (150 or less). Renovated in 2011, the Lower Level has access to break-out meeting rooms, and two restrooms with showers. The Lower Level is equipped with a small stage and a warming kitchen as well. Audio visual equipment is available upon request. In addition to worship services, The Lower Level has been used for baby and wedding showers, large meetings, preschool graduation ceremonies, fundraisers, and recreational activities.
