It may take you a year or longer to figure out what Chilson is truly about. As you begin to explore our unique church, you will discover and experience some of the values we consider precious: God’s unconditional love, God’s healing, and God’s forgiveness! We are constantly searching for new ways to teach and to experience these vital aspects of God’s presence in our world. People do find spiritual healing here. And, people do find a challenge to grow spiritually beyond their comfort zones.

Who We Want to Be

As we GO into the community and CONNECT with God’s children, we DISCOVER their great needs, ACCEPT them as they are and MINISTER to them as we are able. We OPEN our doors, our hearts and our lives in order to WELCOME them into God’s family and PROVIDE a safe place where God can meet their deepest needs. We INVITE them to follow Jesus with us, going wherever he leads us, seeing and celebrating God’s kingdom along the way.

Our Vision

“Connecting together in Christ to serve all God’s people.”

Our Motivating Values

To Live Meaningfully… involves the creative care of God’s beautiful planet and people and sharing of the gifts and resources given by God.

To Learn Continually… involves the willingness of the individual and the community to become lifelong learners as Christ teaches us to grow intellectually, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

To Love Unconditionally… is to accept God’s “no strings attached” love for us and be willing to love others in the same way.

To Leave a Legacy of Hope… as our gift to the future, we live for God, for each other, and for the children of the world.

What if I have more questions?

How to Begin Connecting
For many of us, discovering Chilson Hills was like finding a pair of favorite comfy shoes. Wear old jeans or Sunday Best. Sing an old hymn or hear something new. Trust tradition or question everything. Clap and stand tall or sit silently in your seat! Come as you are! We simply want to learn from Christ and we are happy to have you visiting with us today.

Join Us in Communion
Communion is a special moment in our service when we remember the love of Jesus exemplified by his death on the cross. We invite everyone – regardless of age or church affiliation – to participate in The Lord’s Supper, but please don’t feel pressured to do so. Our worship leader will give you instructions as to how you can participate.

Know Our Children’s Programs
Parents interested in morning class will find child care available for children through age two in the nursery. Children’s sermons are often provided during the 10:00 service. After that sermon, children age 3 through 5th grade may attend morning Sunday School downstairs. Be sure to sign-in your child prior to the 10:00 service as a pre-designated adult must sign children out of all areas.

Fully Experience Sunday Worship
To deeply explore life’s questions or for moments of feeling alone. If you miss a Sunday, feel free to listen to our sermons online!

Be Anointed with Oil During Worship
The Biblical custom of Anointing with Oil symbolizes healing or deciding to do specific work the Lord has offered you. If your heart, mind, or body is troubled, hurting, confused, or tired; or if you believe Jesus has something for you to do in life and is trying to get your attention, consider an anointing and prayer with one of the Deacons. Personal prayer is strictly confidential and this is an opportunity to share situations or ideas with the Lord.

Worship in Music
Folks have been making music for God in Christ for years. Originally they used pipes, harps, “viols,” and voices. Today, at Chilson, we use keyboards, bells, drums, guitar strings, and VOICES! We make a joyful noise and we believe music tells a story. All you need if playing bells is a good grip, if working with the choir, you need an ability to “have fun singing” and to hold a copy of music. All God ever wanted was You. Come join us.

Join a Ministry Team
Chilson Hills has many Ministry and Mission Teams. Ministry Teams offer ministry to the church. Mission Teams reach out to the greater world. There are many interests to choose from. Consider the list in this book. Join in and experience the many rewards that participation offers.
