Email from Angie (6/14/22):

Hey Friends!

I have a confession. I’m not a book club person…. Like… I actively avoid them. Last summer’s Bible Study, Rhythm of Prayer, changed that for me. I thoroughly enjoyed (and even looked forward to) the time that I got to spend with a great group of Ladies. We shared important and intimate conversation regarding what prayer looked like to each one of us and opened our eyes, ears and hearts to new concepts of prayer. I thought, “Wait… Angela… if book clubs are like this, then why do you avoid them?” Well the answer is, because I was always to afraid to make the commitment to attending and reading (even though I am very social and I love reading)… I know… *eyeroll* My point is, I get it. Summer is a hard time to nail down a couple hours, we are all leading normal active lives. No shame here! You can be a part of this even if you can’t make it to all of them. I decided to open the Summer Bible Study to more than ladies because I don’t want to exclude any potential interests… and we now we have a few new friends in our group! We had a successful intro meeting at Bishop Lake over the weekend (7 people) and even began reading  the first chapter. If you are interested in joining in on this group, it’s not too late!

Accidental Saints is written by, Nadia Bolz-Weber. Nadia is a Lutheran Priest and also a recovering addict. She has the most relatable way of interweaving faith and real life. Her language is “spicy” and straight to the point. I encourage you to give Nadia a chance, this is a quick read… you will probably have to force yourself to take breaks.

We have decided to meet at 7pm. (I’ve updated the website and calendar). The first meeting (June 23rd) we plan to meet at the Mill pond in Brighton outside, since the Church’s entryway is being repaved next week. If the weather is iffy we can go inside to the Brighton Coffee House right on the Mill pond. Meeting dates are Thursday’s, June 23 &30 and July 14 & 21. (skipping 4th of July week)

Here is the LINK to the Summer Bible Study page on Chilson’s website… if you are going to join us you should know that we plan to have the first 5 chapters read by our meeting on the 23rd. (Don’t worry they aren’t long chapters). I’ve already sold out of my advance copies, so you will need to obtain a copy independently or tell me you need one and I can get it for you. (It is also available on Kindle).

So excited to journey through this book with you all! Lastly, don’t be afraid to invite someone that you think might be interested, the more the merrier! Feel free to contact me with any questions!
